Dr Jane Gorman
Surgical Assistant
FRACP MBBS(Hon) BMedSc
Jane completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney, undertaking several years of advanced orthopaedic training before deciding this career was not family friendly enough.
She then worked in the Emergency Department for a year before moving back to Tasmania to take up a place in the GP training program. Jane has worked as a GP at the Ochre Medical Centre, Augusta Road since 2009, with interests in orthopaedics, women’s health, and diving medicine. She has been assisting Dr Kirsten Connan in surgery since 2018 in addition to assisting regularly in orthopaedic surgery.
Jane loves working with Dr Connan, with the whole theatre team striving together to provide the best possible medical care for our patients with a caring and kind ethos.
Jane has a husband who is a dentist and three over-committed school-aged children. When not at work much of her time is taken up with co-ordinating her family, with occasional time for baking, preserving, sewing, climate activism and bushwalking. Jane’s household is working hard towards being zero-waste and carbon neutral!
