Dr Portia Spaulding
Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Portia Spaulding is an obstetrician and gynaecologist, who received her final specialty FRANZCOG qualification in February 2020. She grew up in Hobart, having completed her medical degree at the University of Tasmania, graduating in 2010. She moved to Melbourne in 2011, and after completing the Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG), she realised she was passionate about Women’s Health and decided to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Portia spent the first three years of her specialist training at Monash Health and Eastern Health in Melbourne. She then spent a further six months training rurally in Ballarat, before moving back to Tasmania to complete her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) at the Royal Hobart Hospital over 2019.
Portia’s interests include caring for women with normal and high-risk pregnancies, as well as general gynaecology, laparoscopy and ultrasound. She has recently completed Part One of her Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) through the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM).
Portia is passionate about providing quality, holistic and woman-centred care, and is committed to educating women to actively engage in their health and wellbeing. She also enjoys teaching junior colleagues and medical students.
Outside of work, Portia loves running, cycling, exploring Tasmania’s outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
